NWN is eating my soul!
It takes me forever to catch up on the games I want to play, and NWN is no exception. I didn't have the computing power back then, and the game was a little high priced until last summer. Plus I was playing Morrowind...after playing two years of Morrowind, I decided to finish the main quest already ;-) Even though I had levelled my character up to 44, it was getting repetitive. I love Morrowind, don't get me wrong, but the same enemies, same looking places was getting a little dull!
I have always loved Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale, and it was good to return to such a familiar playing place. To compare Morrowind and NWN would be apples to oranges, but I think I slightly like the graphics better in NWN and of course, all the snappy and humourous dialog!

The snow globe is a looooong story. Trust me! I also like sensible character names. No Tuwanda Gr'aks or Jasmine Gut Renderers here!

And dungeon crawling just doesn't get any finer either. We probably shouldn't have touched that chest...

Thankfully I can hire trusty henchmen! When it comes to fighting the undead...

or pesky minotaur level bosses...

my back is always covered! So far I have been hiring Daelan or Tomi. I love Daelan - like any handy guy, he busts down doors and chests I can't open. Although he's civilized for a half-orc, sometimes that wild fury just needs to unleashed, I guess.

NWN 2 lacks some of the appeal of the first, simply for the reason that it lacks some of the things you like about the first one, like witty dialogue and good character-related contest sensitivity. In the tutorial aspect of the game, my paladin character gets accused of 'spreading slanderous lies' and that 'nobody would ever believe the likes of you', which is totally ridiculous. Any kid who was of the character type to make it as a paladin would have established a reputation long ago for the whole 'righteous and good' ideal, and everyone in the small hick town would recognize that. But oh no, the designers would rather spend all there efforts making the game shinier, than to bother gearing dialogue towards any specific class or race.
The whole game seems to operate on the assumption that everyone will play a human fighter, and any class and race combo besides that, gets treated as if they were anyway. :P
Er, anyway, sorry about the rant, and good luck with the first, and best game. The sequel is worth checking out, still, afterwards. :)

No worries about going on a rant. It will be a while before I delve into NWN 2, so I'll probably still get it down the road. It's a wee disappointing to know that they lost some of the things I enjoyed most. I wonder if it had anything to do with the Interplay going bust.
Actually one of the things I liked best was being able to sit back and watch the peeps go after the enemies. Klauth was hard to beat, so I set the game in god mode and went and made pancakes ;-)
Have you tried making your own module btw?
