Lucky Penny Shop Presents...
Some time ago I stumbled across YouTuber Lucky Penny Shop...not sure how, but I'm always checking in to see what weird and wonderful things they're reviewing, which is mostly toys. Love their enthusiasm and demos, especially when they pull out older toys. Here's just one video from an oddball set of McDonald's toys made in 1993 used to condition young folks into accepting McJobs. All the toys seem rather weird in that they don't produce the actual product in any form - the French fry maker cuts bread up into strips, for example - but I guess someone deserves props for thinking up something like this. The burger maker is by far the strangest of the bunch - and watching it in action as the narrator makes a cereal, chocolate and peanut butter burger patty is oddly gross, fun and...unique!

Two YouTubers I like for toy commentary are Mike Mozart because he has such odd, old things sometimes, and Ashens because he is dry and British and funny. Ashens is truly my favorite since he adds old and knockoff handheld games and Poundland food (ick!).

Mike Mozart is a hoot! I love him...should see what he's up to now. I haven't heard of Ashens, but I'll take a look. Thanks!

I think adults can really get into toys once in a while, like kids, and that's why some of the Japanese builder kits can remain popular.

I just love toys, still. I love the toyness of some toys, if that makes sense. If I had the space, I would totally have a little Calico Critter town :-) Other times it is nostalgia - compared to some kids, we have very little in the way of toys. Other toys always looked they would never quite work. I watched the Lucky Penny review of the Snoopy snow cone maker, something I always wanted, and it was disappointing to see how much effort it took just to get a dixie cup full of ice!

Oh, YOU would so not be responsible for that, me and cat videos are perfectly good at wasting time on our own. lol

For a long time, I enjoyed watching this lovely woman do her kits while she lived in Japan (she is not a Japanese person though) and she continued this when she moved back to America. She also got sent food parcels from all over the world and it got rather interesting.
I felt she explained things well, had a nice voice & face, and was never annoying (although honest and never overly cutesy):
