I saw this on Slashdot this morning and it's too neat not to share. A company has developed a way of turning plastic back into the material they were made from.

Maybe our landfills will become a future source of energy! There is a video at the above URL that shows shredded tires being nuked back into carbon black and oil (do not try at home!). It would be so neat to have a home version, you could run your diesel car on garbage :-)
There is a company called GeoPlasma that is going to built a plant at a Florida landfill...they use arc welding technology to deal with garbage.
