Fast & Furious: Spy Racers
Feb. 1st, 2020 05:24 pmIt's a little embarrassing how much in the way of cartoons that I watch. But, when you only want to watch something for half and hour, there isn't much choice. Plus, I love the Fast & Furious franchise. One wonders why it took them so long to make a cartoon. Seriously! If this was the 80s, Dom and a gang of kids would be busting crimes in a hovercraft or something years ago.
ANYWAY Spy Racers is a pretty fun show to watch for kids and/or adults. Action! Drama! Explosions! The 3D animation is quite nice and the ten episode first series feels like a rejected FF script that had too big a CGI budget. Dom's little cousin, Tony, along with his friends, get recruited by the US government to infiltrate a gang of no good racer types called SH1FT3R. Once you get over this corny premise, you kind of appreciate how well-crafted the characters are. Everyone respects the nerds, the cast is diverse and they try to solve problems by using their smarts and daring. The amount of punching in the show was kind of a surprise though. Eh, what can I say? When you need something to watch for half an hour...
