Out Darn Stuff!
May. 20th, 2021 12:44 pmOur annual visit from YYC Junk was so fast that I didn't even get to snap a picture! It's also sleeting and cold outside, so I couldn't make a still life out of everything ;-D I like using YYC Junk because they take donations as well as broken stuff and junk.
There was just one donation--a heated footbath that only saw a few uses.
A broken office office chair, a bag of dead batteries, a giant cardboard box from the new office chair, a water cooler that "still works, just nasty" according to hubs, some e-cycling and the old composter all went. I thought the composter would be a struggle to get out of the ground, but the guy just gave it a big yank and out it came! Now that we have municipal green cart service, it's just a thing in the yard we don't need. I was also concerned about it becoming a mouse house.
It's telling that since our big purge of stuff (motivated by a basement leak), the stuff to give or throw away has grown smaller and smaller. We're definitely buying less and using less. It's nice to be at this point in life when stuff doesn't matter. I was worried that it would all come back in some form--and people told me it would--but so far that has not come true.
