calzephyrWe watched as many movies as possible last night in order to ring in the new year and one of them was From Russia With Love. Rarely do sequels improve on the first movie, but this one actually does with better plotting, a touch of romance, cheeky humour and a daring helicopter sequence.
Set in Istanbul, I realized what a postcard from the past this movie was in a post-WW2 world. Everyday citizens, cars and clothes appear. To a worldwide audience, this would have been just as good as visiting the real place. And the low-tech high-tech is intriguing as well.
