Dear Bird Kingdom...
Sep. 20th, 2006 08:30 amPlease stop doing stupid stuff when I'm around.
In the summer I wrote about a flock of grouse that was trying to cross a busy roadway (and made it).
This morning I'm writing about a crow trapped in a bus shelter. I got off at my usual stop and noticed a crow sitting inside the shelter on the bench. At first I thought it was cute, then I was like, "Oh crap, it can't get out."
I didn't want to grab it (for obvious reasons) and I tried luring it out with part of my sandwich, but it didn't seem interested in that of course. It just wanted out! I went in and out of the shelter several times hoping it would notice. It didn't even mind that I was up close to it.
He crashed into the clear wall of the shelter twice :\ I shooed him off the bench and he fell onto the ground, and then I was able to chase him to the entrance where he flew to freedom. He made it to the top of the building across the street where I imagine he's recovering from one heck of a headache.
