Colossus: The Forbin Project

This is probably the mother of all technology gone wrong movies and it's much like The Andromeda Strain - slow paced and scientific. It centres around a super computer named Colossus, designed by one Dr. Forbin, whose aim is to foster world peace. It's barely online for a few minutes when it detects a similar system named Guardian in the USSR. Things go down from there until it reaches a tense cliffhanger.

I thought Gordon Pinsent, a Canadian actor, was great as the US president. I was also enamored by the flawless use of videophones. Forget flying cars - I'd just like to run a Webex meeting without it crashing!
