Wuthering Heights

I think, as long as I live, I'll never understand this story completely. One gets the impression that if only Heathcliff had some hobbies other than an unhealthy obsession with Catherine he have been a little happier in life. I read the book in high school and I didn't really get it then, so I found the PBS Masterpiece Theatre version at the library. The movie makes all the characters seem sympathetic in a way that I don't remember them being the book, and a lot of Heathcliff's cruelty is edited out from the movie, especially the death of Heathcliff's son. I guess I just can't feel for this tragic pair of lovers!

Breaking Dawn

So this is the last book in the Twilight saga, and nyrchicky was right, I do wish there was more, if not because of Alice Cullen, but because I haven't read such so many hilarious books back to back in a long time. Oh man, the first dozen or so chapters had me howling and groaning with delight. By the middle part, where Jacob's perspective takes over, I thought, "This is one messed up book!" And I have read a lot of messed up books! However, the ending was quite satisfying actually, and you know, a good ending makes a reader quite forgiving of an author. I actually started to like Jacob again.
