We played a new game last night that I had bought for Valentine's Day. It's called Quiddler and it's like a card version of Scrabble. Each game lasts eight rounds and players score points for having the longest word or the most words. A card is discarded each round after you pick one up.
I thought it was pretty fun, but there's a huge flaw in the game mechanics depending on your view point. A round can be close to over when one person decides to spell words. This means that other players may not get a chance to pick up/discard if they have been dealt a lousy hand. I suppose that's fine if you're in it to win it, but having one full round before someone can end the game seems like a nice compromise.
