Hidden Expedition is another Big Fish Games Studio franchise that I really enjoyed. The games are more adventure themed as opposed to mystery themed and previous adventures took one through Mount Everest and the Amazon. Again, they bore the BFG seal of quality and were generally enjoyable. I caught up with all the games on the winter sale and when I cracked open Crown of Solomon, I groaned, because it was by the same studio that botched Key to Ravenhearst, Eipix.
Well, I could eat my hat here...because Eipix really stepped up their game for Crown of Solomon and Dawn of Prosperity with stellar graphics, sounds and puzzles. I bought Collector's Editions for both and enjoyed the bonus chapters which really extended the story for each game. It takes me about 10 hours to play a game, so I felt I had my money's worth. Crown of Solomon does have some awkward mo-cap moments with rubbery faces, but that wasn't too much of a distraction as the quest to find the pieces of the crown becomes a globe trotting adventure. The plot of Dawn of Prosperity bears no relation to the title, but it was as much of a techie thriller as point and click games could possibly get :-) I do miss the more pure HOG style of the older games, but I don't think there is any going back to that point - games always have to be bigger than the previous one and hopefully better.
