Father Brown
Mar. 17th, 2020 01:56 pmAlways looking for a good winter series to binge, I finished the six seasons of Father Brown available on Netflix recently. It stars Mark Williams as a curious and kindly priest who, unbeknownst to him, lives in the English murder village of Kembleford.
The one hour episodes are charming and what really makes the show worthwhile are the warm relationships between the main characters--Mrs. McCarthy, Father Brown, Sid and Lady Felicia. Lady Felicia is replaced by her niece Bunty in later seasons while Sid pops in and out. Like Jessica Fletcher, murder follows Father Brown and he's always on the scene--whether to give last rites, spiritual guidance or as his social calendar just happens to place him there. For a large village, Kembleford has few other consistent characters besides the local police. Everyone is quick to dismiss Kembleford as a backwater little town, but the statistics say otherwise!
