My wild backyard!
Jul. 8th, 2006 11:05 amI dug up some more errant wild rose bushes. Please stop reproducing Mrs. Rosebush! The bean sprouts have gone away, but it looks like corn of some sort has tried to take hold in the flowerbed. Yes, corn. I filled up the bird feeder with the last of the bird seed (the source of my troubles) and maybe about 10 minutes later there was a sparrow in the tree broadcasting that it was full.
Also found out what has been eating the rose bush leaves all these years. Leaf cutter bees!. They exist! There's also a ginormous spider near the front door. I couldn't get a good picture...I'm content to leave it be, as long as its not dangerous, but I don't know that :-D
I brought the big planter around so it could get some sun, and that's when I discovered it was overrun with ants! Ugh! I like ants, but not this many ants. I tried banging the planter against the sidewalk, but there were too many of them, and pretty soon they were on me too! They just ditzed around in circles, utterly confused, so I put the planter back down and put an ant trap in it. Bleh.
EDIT:
I saw the mouse when we came home. I had filled the whole under the step with white gardening rocks so anything larger doesn't get stuck under there. He just bounced alongside the house and under the deck! Bleh...I checked under the deck, but I don't want to check too closely either :-P
