We went to Michael's for Boxing Day (50% off coupon, woo!) and I finally bought a Knifty Knitter round loom set. They always have them on sale, and I decided that for $12.99, I couldn't go wrong. I always thought it would be too hard and it would end up in the pile of forsaken craft projects ;-) I had something like this when I was a kid, it was a fashion doll dress maker, but the instructions were vague and it didn't have a handy pick to pull the loops over with.

In a couple of hours, I had a hat! It's a tad small though, so I'm making another one with the larger circle. I'm so proud of myself - I love textiles so much, but my lack of skill has always made them off limits. Now I can make all the sparkly Eye Lash and Fun Fur hats I want :-D

Heheheh! I'm so excited by all the things that you can make with it...I'm going to go back and get one for Mom's birthday. I noticed that they also have the long loom set - have you tried that one?

I have the long loom set, as well as the original long loom (it's purple and the pegs are bigger). I've only used the purple one, to make a small rug.

I looked at those loomy things. They look like a great deal of fun!!! And I can't get it in Sweden. damn. :-( Looked in the Uk as well, but alas, no luck! I'll look on Ebay but I doubt they'll send wordwide.

They are fun! I am working on a scarf to match my hat now. If you wanted, I could go back and get you a set of the round looms or the purple rectangle loom, which is $10.99. The circle set is about 16x16" square as a package...Canada Post's online calculator is guestimating $37 postage. That's probably close as it was $36 for me to send a package to Germany.

This eBay seller (http://cgi.ebay.com/KNIFTY-KNITTER-LONG-LOOM-PURPLE-Hook-Needle-Bag-Set-NEW_W0QQitemZ230071447507QQihZ013QQcategoryZ83930QQcmdZViewItem) ships worldwide.

Ah...from what I gather, you can knit back and forth on the round ones as well, but I think that might take some practice. I went back to Michael's and got the long loom set as well as a little pattern book. Michael's is sneaky - there were three 50% off coupons in their flyer, and the last one had to be used by today.

I used the blue (smallest) loom to make my scarf - it's just a giant double sided tube. There's a pattern for fingerless gloves on their website, but mitts would be cooler :-D

Oh hey, I just realized something...the booklet has German instructions, so maybe you could find a German retailer that carries it? They have a store locator on their website, and Sweden is one of the countries listed...although I don't know if the retailers that popped up would carry this though (ProvoCraft makes a lot of stuff!) http://www.provocraft.com/stores/index.php

I have pictures of some finished stuff to post soon...I'm working on a mohair scarf!
