Knifty Reversible Hat

I don't know how original this is, but it solves a problem I was thinking about...two plys of wool made for a stiff hat, one ply was too light...
You'd think with all my stuffed animals, one of them would be big enough to model this child-sized hat. No luck, so Paolo the Parrot got the job! He's camera shy anyway...

I used the green round loom to make this. Basically I made a big tube about 16" long, with 8" of each colour. I left a 12" tail when I started out. One just goes about merrily making a normal hat and cast off normally at the desired length, but leaving a longer tail as well.
To finish off the hat, each stitch is cast off the peg and on to the tail. I pulled the tail tight, but didn't tie it off right away. I went back to the first end of the took and ran the 12" tail through the first row of stitches. Then I took the tail and scrunched up the bottom part into the top, pulling the tail through the hole at the other end. I pulled the tail of the first half tight, and then the second half. I tied the two tails together and knotted off. And voila! A double-layered toque that can be turned inside out.
