Endless Neverwinter Nights...
Feb. 4th, 2007 05:26 pmI finished up Hordes of the Underdark handily today (little spoilers under the cut) so I thought I would take a stab at creating my own module. The module wizard is pretty easy. To start out with I made a medium sized forest and filled it with deer, badgers, boars, a falcon and a couple of ravens. I selected the peaceful forest music for it.
So...I load 'er up to experience my la-la hippie forest, and oh, woe! The raven started attacking the badger, so I had to kill the badger. Then the raven tried to take on a boar and lost. Tsk tsk!
I was really happy with the outcome of HotU, although I have enough save points to go back and see different endings. The plot line really threw me for a loop several times. Who ever did the writing did an excellent job.
There's a point where you free the wizard and he sends one of your companions back to the surface. When I started out, I decided to take Deekin with me. Sure, he's a little goofball, but at least he doesn't go running headfirst at the enemy :-D I found Sharwyn and decided to keep her along. I really liked the character, especially her great crazy laugh when she attacked someone.
Sharwyn only stayed a while, as she was sent back...which is good, because again, I like how Deekin developed. He grew dragon wings, and was quite powerful at the end. I decided to take Nytharra with me when the choice was given, and again, enjoyed her conversation. Alas, she betrayed at the very end *sniff*. I was really hoping to come out of the game with both companions alive. I don't think my persuade skill was high enough to convince her that the final boss was trying to trick her.
There were some darn annoying puzzles in Chapter 3 though. I had to do one twice...there's a burning tunnel, and Nytharra could not get through it without dying. I didn't have a save point before the tunnel, so I had to redo a level. There were also several spots where I had to replay as there was "no going back" and many times I left my peeps behind somewhere so they wouldn't die or get in the way.
I'm hoping the other modules that come with the game live up to this one. Shadows of Undrentide was a little short, but HotU really made up for it :-)
