I caught this neat article on how poor vision changed how some artists painted. Now that I have my glasses I'm really amazed by how differently things work, and I can see how some of my earlier stuff had a mushy quality to it.

Totally! There are some who thought El Greco had astigmatism, hence the appearance of his artwork...I never thought that it could be so difficult to see with cataracts either. It makes total sense though!

Hmm, that's VERY interesting! It's true though....having impaired vision or slowly going blind would definitely affect your sight and how your created your art. An artist going blind is not really the same thing as a musician going deaf like Beethoven -- wasn't he the composer that became deaf but still wrote masterpieces in his head? Obviously an extreme example.... ;)

I think you're right, it was Beethoven. I wonder if he could "see the music" despite being deaf :-) I suppose if your vision was really out there, your art would be really unique!
