The upside to a cold is that I get to catch up on my reading. While friends shun your sniffling self, books will always be there for you!
I read Just Enough Anxiety by Robert H. Rosen earlier in the week. He sees instead of something to be ashamed of and hidden, that anxiety can be a "hidden driver of business success". Really it is more about embracing change as a normal part of every day life (and business life) and using the anxiety around change to achieve positive results as well as changing the way one reacts to anxiety. The right amount of anxiety can be used as a fuel for creativity and motivating employees as well. This book was totally not what I expected it to be, since I judged it on the title alone :-).
I ordered two more books from Tamora Pierce's The Immortals quartet. I didn't realize there was a fourth book, or I would have ordered it as well! Both Wolf Speaker and Emperor Mage are top notch young adult adventure fantasy. I wish I had known there was a fourth book, because now I'm really craving to see how the saga ends. In a way, I do know, from her Protector of the Small series, but I disliked that set and I wish I had never read it :-)
So that leaves me with one last book to cover me for the weekend - hopefully a gem from the free pile at work - Crazy in Alabama by Mark Childress. I really wish I was at Spruce Meadows instead though - it's the perfect fall day out there for show jumping!
