With some help from my furry four legged friends Patches and Twilight, I got a nice little baggie of cat hair. Some websites say that fresh cat litter or hair will discourage mice, so I put some under the step, in the composter, in the little hole they made by the deck stairs and the gap where they dash between the step and the flowerbed. I don't know how well that will work, but we'll see. On a timely note, [livejournal.com profile] zandperl posted question about mice in [livejournal.com profile] parrot_lovers.

Gak, mice. I hope the cat hair works...... Like the new theme for your journal. The bird is a nice touch.

Me too, I don't hate the mice, but they are just a little too close and I don't want them to be too comfortable. Not a lot of people let their cats roam in our neighbourhood.

Thanks, I like this theme too! I figured it was time for a change, and this one looks so much like home :-)

The closet my mouse came out of smells like cat piss...

Yuck! Maybe it's not fresh enough ;-)

I read on one website that mice hate the smell of mint or peppermint, but I call BS on that because I have a big patch of mint growing between the rose bush and the bird feeder. Maybe certain strains of house mice aren't fussy :-D

The colors of earth are always beautiful. I imagine pet mice would be nicer. I never could get quite used to handling a hamster (small one's anyway) but then I never imagined it would be easy to handle a bird (which freaks most people out).

I wouldn't mind pet mice. I would not mind the wild mice if I knew they were disease free either.

It's amazing how birds freak people out. I think it's the flapping and, yes, where do you grab? Most people know how to pick up a cat or a dog, but a bird is just so foreign a concept!

LOL, I must admit it took me a long time before I mastered the grabbing the little suckers. I had to watch the vet do it first. But I admit, it's been partially the birds making it easier on me. I think parakeets are sometimes faster the the speed of light ;)
