The Darkangel
Oct. 19th, 2008 01:43 pmThis is the first book in The Darkangel Trilogy by Meredith Ann Pierce and now I have to find the sequel. The bookstore only had the first and third books, oh no :-) It reminded me a lot of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, and not just because there is a lion in it :-) Actually, there are so many themes going on - one can sort of see shades of Beauty and the Beast - although the vampyre who kidnaps the heroine, Aerial, is a strikingly handsome one. At its heart it is really a love story about redemption, perseverance and a beautifully written one at that. It was originally written in 1982 before vampires and gothy things were mainstream too, which surprised me.
