Well, once you get on the vampire train, it's pretty hard to get off of it! [livejournal.com profile] fairly_vanilla lent me the first book in the Evernight series, which I finished this morning while hoping to put my sniffles to rest! It would be unfair to compare this book to the Twilight series too much, because it has a different agenda. There are some places where the similarities may cause some eye-rolling, but the twist in the middle was rather unexpected! I really enjoyed it anyhow. Evernight is definitely more daring when it comes to teenage passions and sex, so that might be a turn off for some. If anything, Evernight is definitely less emo, more compact and swiftly paced than Twilght.

I'll definitely check out the sequels. A reviewer on Amazon commented that this book was childlishly written, and I'm inclined to agree...however...given that it is written from the point of view of a 21st century teenage girl, I thought the language was spot on. There's a reason why YA books are YA books after all!

Speaking of Twilight, I hope the upcoming New Moon sequel is better than the first movie. I know it has to be! The movie was probably one of the worst book adaptations I have ever seen since Charley, which was based on Flowers for Algernon. There was a real lack of passion or romance, and Edward was just plain creepy. Robert Pattison and Kristen Stewart both looked like they could have used some Pepto Bismol at times from all the awkward facial expressions.

LOL! I thought I was the only one who thought that! (regarding the apparent need for Pepto Bismol)

Nope! My husband MST'd the whole thing throughout which made it quite enjoyable. There were a couple of places where I expected Edward to say "Excuse Bella, I think I have shat myself."

BTW, I keep forgetting to thank you for the wonderful and detailed explanation to Wuthering Heights!
