Catching Fire

I just finished the second in The Hunger Games trilogy and it's going to be long wait for the third book in August! The last few chapters were positively thrilling and chilling and left me wondering by books for adults aren't this exciting. Maybe it's because the emotions of young adult characters tend to be more raw.

With the potential to be cliche ridden, Suzanne Collins did a great job of weaving a very careful story that didn't give away too much too soon and kept me guessing about where she would take certain plot elements, and I found that to be delightful as a reader. I would be giving too much away, but the evil President Snow has more in store for Katniss and Peeta. This book was not quite as good as the first - it lagged here and there - but once it found its legs again in Part Three, it was all uphill. Second books in a trilogy have a way of being like that, so I don't doubt the third book will be utterly as amazing at the first.

Now the next young adult book I have to read is Shiver. It's a werewolf romance from what I gather in yalitlovers.

I think you might like "Idlewild" by Nick Sagan - if I've already mentioned it feel free to ignore this. :-P It's not billed as YA, but the characters are in their late teens and have the whole "raw emotions" thing going on. And the story has mystery/suspense elements to it.

Yes, "Shiver" is the next book I want to read, for sure. The sequel is coming out this summer! I keep meaning to buy "Shiver", but forget! I really do want to read it though. :)

Whew, I'm happy that all these sequels are coming out, although the Evernight one is the one I'm wishing for the most. I hope to start reading Shiver tomorrow - you're welcome to borrow it!
