Hay! I'll let you know, youngster, that I was here before the internet and mobile phones, before Walkmans even! I was not bored. I had libraries of books to read, mountain parks to explore, spring run-off in culverts to play with, a bicycle to get around with and aquarium fish to keep. There was stuff on T.V., the botanical gardens was free of charge and sometimes I went to see a movie. I probably get more bored now wandering the web looking for something new to read.
LOL! You know, as of late, I have been finding the Internet completely boring. If it's not X outraged at Y (and vice versa), it's the same hyperfocus on the same news story 24/7. I miss the authentic feel of the web, when you could wander aimlessly, come across someone's bad Geocities, learn something new, or at least feel entertained. Yeah, I'm not cranky either :-D
Oh Noes! We're getting prematurely aged by the web! 8^D Mostly I'm surprised how something that should be endlessly expanding and getting more informative seems to be doing the opposite. eBay is no where near as much fun as it was last century, there are pay-walls and international barriers to content every which way, upstarts like 'my little pony fans in my locality' just whither and die and info like 'how to build a talking robo-pet' is just a pain to find. I just might have to find a more fulfilling hobby... like house cleaning.
Yes, yes and yes! You totally get what I'm thinking. I used to be such an active eBayer and paywalls are a pain in the butt. Maybe it's just the way things change and it's me who hasn't changed :-D
I do admit to suffering from opinion and compassion fatigue thanks to the Internet. It's weird, I feel driven back to LJ as a result.
