I read this book about four years ago. The book was published in about 1989-90s so it quite an old book.
The title is someone's name and the word 'tower.' (The name is similar to Tintin - i am sure it is NOT Tintin)
E.g. Tinfin's Tower, Tintil's Tower, Tinmin's Tower.
The cover is blue with a tower on it, surrounded by a lake and a boy and girl on a row boat, with the boy pointing to the tower.
Plot: a boy (main character) working in the local library one day sees strange men go through a door (in the library) which he can only see. He eventually goes through the door,leading to another world, similar to Earth) where he meets a girl is on a quest to retrieve an object from the tower. A group of people (not human), help the girl to complete the quest. The boy joins them. There is something with a festival where the moon symbolises something (I cannot fully recall).
The group is also running from the 'bad guy' who is also trying to get the object they need.
Eventually, they arrive at the tower, which is surrounded by a lake with a monster in it.
The plot twist is that the people helping the boy and girl are actually the bad people and the 'bad guy' is a good person who was trying to help them. They eventually escape the bad people, get the object and save the world. The boy (main character) returns back to the library.
I really enjoyed this book. I have unsuccessfully searched online and would really appreciate anyone who has any information or remembers a similar story!
