Heads Up for CorelDraw Users

If you're an old school nerd like me that can't get with the times or Adobe products, CorelDraw will soon be moving to a subscription based model. CorelDraw 2019 is apparently the last standalone version you will be able to buy. I wasn't looking to upgrade from CorelDraw X5 because it was $249Cdn that I hadn't planned on spending, but it was worth it in the end. CD X5 never worked quite right on Windows 10 with constant crashing and finally there were enough features to make upgrading worth it.

A bit of a tangent... I'm a different kind of old school nerd, I guess. I'm on Linux and thought I could never get to grips with GIMP but the latest version took me from 'This software hates me, I hate it right back *sob*' to 'Hey... I can actually do stuff with this!'

Subscription software sounds unpleasant. I like free stuff.

Subscription stuff is so stupid. We use Creative Cloud at work and now and then it kicks everyone out and we have to wait for the IT guy to fix it.

Worse, if the activation servers are shut off for CorelDraw, I'm similarly hooped.

LOL I haven't looked at GIMP in years. My reaction was the same as yours when I tried it out. I thought it was just me!

Hell no it's not just you. I think most people used to have that reaction when they first tried it. But lately, well... it's certainly come a long way.
