The Pink Panther with Steve Martin
Aug. 6th, 2007 06:11 amWe watched this last night and it was actually tons funnier than I expected. It scored 24% on Rotten Tomatoes, and usually RT never lies, but the movie is a decent rental for sure! It was kind of cute in several parts, lacked swearing and potty humour. It's one fart joke was a good one! I haven't seen any of the Peter Sellers' versions, and reading reviews on IMDb, it looks like a lot of people were comparing the two. The only thing I couldn't stand were the bad accents!
The ending wrapped up the simple plot nicely (find the Pink Panther diamond and find out who killed a soccer coach) and there were so many clues that it should have been apparent who at least killed the soccer coach, but I was too busy laughing. My favourite parts were a nod to James Bond and the curtain camouflage. There's a scene where Clouseau gets both hands stuck in two vases that reminded me a lot of the original Naked Gun.
