The perfect scene
Oct. 11th, 2007 04:30 pmI wish there was a way I could capture what's going on in my front yard accurately, but there isn't one. The wild rose bushes are a perfect shade of fire orange red, fat sparrows are gleaning what they can from the bird feeder (which I just filled yesterday) and a big wild rabbit lying down in the long grass.
When I first got home, I thought perhaps it had been killed and flung onto our lawn. Then as it flattened itself down even more, I feared maybe it was sick. Eventually he started to browse, and it was standing up and stretching - the perfect shot - but of course by the time I ran for the camera he had hunkered down again. He's been out there for over an hour.

Not a bad photo considering it was taken from behind a window :-) The wild rabbits have always had a special meaning for me since I moved here. There are so many of them, of course, but I don't know how many times I have surprised them on the side of our house, in the flowerbed, the backyard, the front yard - for whatever reason, they chose our lawn and it makes me feel like everything is all right in the world.
