I read a review of this book - How to Negotiate Like a Child: Unleash the Little Monster Within to Get Everything You Want while waiting at the doctor's office and I think I'll pick it up! It's so true - children are pretty good at getting their way, I wonder if it's something we lose as we grow older :-D They're so good at spotting weaknesses. One of the strategies in the review was the popular "If Mom Says No, Ask Dad" tactic. That one always worked like a charm, didn't it?

Erf!!

I listened to an audio CD of a book called "Working with You is Killing Me" and there was a section about workplace sibling rivalry. It seemed stupid, but it's oddly true - there are always those people who play others against each other. Eek!

Icon love btw!

Unfortunately throwing tantrums like a toddler seems to be the way most people I deal with attempt to negotiate. I swear 80% of the people in this country neglected to actually grow up.

I gotta agree with you there. I imagine someone who uses the tantrum technique at work will find themselves eating alone in the lunchroom! Unfortunately the anonymity of our society makes throwing a tantrum totally OK in front of others, especially those that deal with the public :S At the library there was a special numerical code for violent/problem patrons that popped up when you wanded their card. Those self-serve checkouts can be a good thing!
